"As a filmmaker, there are certain moments in the creation of a film that standout in your memory. The first time you read the script, that "yes" you get when the star commits to your project, the moment you roll cameras the first day on the set. But for me, the moment that I always look forward to the most is the day I am on a mixing stage, and the sound mixer cues up a Brian Tyler score for the first time. It is then that you get to experience the possibility that the movie you have had in your head for months or even years, might come to life as you had hoped... I have had the good fortune to work with Brian Tyler twice. Both times, when that moment arrived, my expectations were wildly surpassed. Brian is that rare talent that can transcend the material, and make it soar much father than you dreamed. Selfishly, it is my hope that Brian will compose the music for as many of my company's projects as I can persuade him to! Anyone who has the privilege to collaborate with Brian is in for a memorable experience, and the chance to watch a creative visionary make magic right in front of your eyes... and between your ears!"
- Gregg L. Daniel, producer The Big Empty
"When I first saw the rough cut of The Big Empty, I knew I was in for a wonderful ride. Steve Anderson directed the film to be a journey that takes you to unexpected places. I wanted to provide a score that reflected that journey. There are contrasting styles in the score that include nods to mystery scores of classic cinema, jazz, prepared piano music, 1970s scores, and late night infomercial music. Steve challenged me to compose a score that was different from anything I had done before. It was a blast working with Steve for the first time and producer Gregg Daniel for the second time!"
